Schneider Taylor Reunion

83 attend Schneider-Taylor reunion

Eighty-three persons from 10 states attended the Schneider-Taylor family reunion held recently at the Holiday Inn, West Plains.

Frank X. and Anna J. (Nordmann) Schneider were married Dec. 5, 1865. at Hermann, and moved from Gasconade County to their farm six miles northeast of West Plains. Atwood and Lydia Elizabeth Acree Taylor were married April 30, 1876, in Howell County and established their home on a farm four miles north of West Plains.

Present for the reunion were descendants of eight of the Frank X. Schneiders' children. Seven of the Atwood Taylors' children were represented at the reunion by descendants. Members of the reunion coordinating committee were: Bill J. Schneider, Tulsa, Okla., chairman; Charles "Chuck" Taylor, Boulder, Colo.; and Steven L. Schneider, Bettendorf, Iowa. Assisting with local arrangements were: Frank J. Schneider, Dexter; Mrs. Doulgas (Lourena) Galloway, and Mrs. Claude (Mildred) Robertson, both of West Plains.

The day's program included registration, visiting in the assembly room at the Holiday Inn or in homes of local relatives, short trips to places of interest and displaying and sharing family pictures and genealogy records.

Group pictures were taken in the afternoon followed by a buffet dinner. The following family members presented a program of devotional and memorial numbers: Bill J. Schneider, chairman, gave the welcome, announcements and reading of names of the 10 children of the Frank X. Schneiders; Charles Taylor, reading of names of the 10 children of the Atwood Taylors; l,ourena Galloway read a poem she composed for the occasion entitled "Let Us Remember;" Lisa Northcutt, Pueblo, Colo., presented a flute solo, "All In The Name of Jesus;" Jeffry Taylor, Ft. Madison, Iowa, sang a solo, "Rise Again;" and Eugene Schneider, Odessa, Texas, gave the memorial prayer and invocation. After dinner, the following persons took part in the remainder of the program: Orval Koch, Jefferson City, related facts about the Frank X. Schneider family; Tammy Bickford, Mtn. Home, Ark., recited Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, "The Village Blacksmith;" Jeffry Taylor led the group singing of gospel hymns and also sang a solo; and Mrs. Ernest (Nellie Dean) Steigers, Juliaetta, Idaho, read a poem she had written for Lourena Galloway and the reunion. Pianist for the program was Johnny Peoples, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Peoples, West Plains.

Gifts were presented to the Rev. Douglas Galloway, West Plains, for being the oldest person present; Alisha Francis, the three-year-old daughter of Floyd and Ruth (Schneider) Francis, youngest person present (she received a toy dog which she named "Schneider"); Loren and Kathleen (Steigers) Ratliff, Bothell, Wash., and her parents, Ernest and Nellie Steigers, Juliaetta, Idaho, the family traveling the longest distance; and Frank J. and Martha Schneider, Dexter, the family with the most members present
