Charles Henry Wade, Sr. Born Dec. 22, 1860 in Shakopee, Scott Co MN. He passed away May 5, 1938 at Montier. He married Maria Jane Allen on March 23, 1897. To this union 11 children were born. He was preceded in death by Gertrude Virginia, born February 18, 1905, died in December, 1922, and Harold, born April 22, 1914 in Mildred, Montana, died April 23, 1916. He is survived by his wife Maria, 5 sons; Charles Henry, Jr., Arthur Chester, David Edwin, Wayne William, and Ivan George, 3 daughters; Mary Susan, Julia McKinney and Ester Lillian Pope. Charles and Maria bought a small farm in Montier, Missouri and also had a grocery store in on the main street of Birch Tree, Mo. Charles was advised by many not to extend credit during the depression, but he couldn’t turn people down, and ended up losing the store. Times being hard Charles went to work for the railroad. Maria joined him and she cooked for the railroaders. Mary was called to Missouri from Montana to care for the children while the parents were both away working. After Charles died, Maria stayed on the farm with Art and his family, when her daughter-in-law Lena died leaving small children. Maria took care of them, when Art went to work in Mountain View, Mo. She moved also and lived with them until her death in 1955. Burial at Montier Cemetery.
David Edwin Wade Born September 29, 1903 at Monico, Wisconsin. He moved with the family to Mildred, Montana where his parents homesteaded. He attended a country school called The Bar G School. Times were hard on the homestead so David and his sister Mary went to work for a family called Christenson’s. He milked cows and did chores. This was a happy time for him as the Christenson’s were real good to him. He went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad in 1925. He married Myrtle Huxley and they had one son, William, born in 1929 in Mobridge, South Dakota. They moved to Miles City, Montana where David retired in 1963. David was a great favorite of all his nieces and nephews; he loved children and would almost burst with pride when around his son and grandsons. His son Bill was killed in a car accident in Carmichael, California 1973. This was heartbreaking to David as he also lost contact with grandsons. He loved to tease, he would always ask “are you eating?” then tell you, if you answered yes “so take a hammer and knock your teeth out”. He always checked pay phones for change and sometimes would come away with a handful. He was a kind, gentle, uncomplaining man. He was pronounced dead on March 5, 1991 in Coeur’d Alene, Kootenai Co ID. His final years were not pleasant ones and there will always be some question of how and when he died. Teresa Jean Thomas Wright Returned to her Heavenly Father and her Savior on June 24, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Christy and Roe in West Plains, Mo. Teresa was born July 2, 1964, in Kansas City, Mo. Her parents were Pat and Terry Thomas. Teresa married Rick Wright on Jan. 11, 1991, and together they raised five sons, Ben, Chris, Oran, Matt, and Calvin, and one daughter, Crystal. Teresa’s greatest gift to her family and friends was her love and example. Teresa’s husband, Rick, was right when he said, “Teresa never met a person she didn’t love and they couldn’t help but love her back.” Teresa and Rick shared a rare and tender love that was evident as they fought Teresa’s illness together. Earlier this year, Teresa increased her fight with cancer as she anticipated the birth of her grandson, Cole, in April 2008. Teresa fought with amazing determination and was blessed to hold and love Baby Cole before she passed. Every time she saw him, he brought a smile to her face. Teresa was a dearly loved member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved Jesus Christ with all her heart and it was reflected in the love and kindness she showed to people and animals. Teresa loved to serve the Christos House and the West Plains Animal Shelter. She was also an active member of the Redhatters’ Society in Cabool and had many friends there. Some of her family’s best memories are of Teresa during holidays. Even when her children were older, Teresa’s friends and neighbors could always catch the holiday spirit as they drove by her holiday lawn decorations. And, if it was a favorite holiday, she often had socks to match. Some might say that Teresa lost her battle with cancer. Her family and friends know different. Cancer could take her body, but it could never touch her soul. Even days before her death, when asked how she was doing, Teresa said, “God has a purpose.” Her extraordinary faith and courage endured even as her body failed. As the suffering increased, her faith was right there to match it. At her death, cancer was left with her mortal body while her untouched spirit went back to the God she knew and loved to gain her eternal reward. As her family and friends, we witnessed her triumphant fight and are forever changed by her example. Teresa’s husband, Rick, and her sons, Ben (and Amy), Chris, Oran, Matt (and Destiny), and Calvin, as well as her daughter, Crystal, courageously fought side by side Teresa throughout her illness and surrounded her in death as she peacefully returned to her God. She absolutely knew of their love and her every breath was sustained by their faith and courage. Teresa is survived by her husband, Rick Wright; her children, Ben Thomas (and Amy), Chris McCauley, Oran Coen, Matt Coen (and Destiny), Calvin Wright and Crystal Wright; her grandson, Cole Thomas; her mother, Pat Moore (and Jerry); her father, Terry Thomas; her sisters, Tammy Zeiler, Tonya McGee and Trisha McGee; one brother, Tommy McGee; her sister-in-law, Sharon Gray, Cabool (Bob); special family friend, Tom Coen; and many, many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lane Stark, and her grandbaby, Logan Thomas. Teresa’s family would like to thank Drs. Morgan and Brown for providing her with excellent medical care, which when joined with her faith, allowed her to fight cancer years longer than expected. It was Teresa’s desire that her body be sent to a renowned cancer research program to aid in continuing the fight against cancer. Friends and family may join Teresa and her family in that fight by donating to the American Cancer Society in Teresa’s honor.
