Nick McMahan services today

Funeral services for Nick McMahan, 75, Pomona, were at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 1989, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, with the Rev. Duane Fine and Bro. Don Adkins officiating.

Mr. McMahan died at 11:23 a.m. Sunday, Jan.1, 1989, in Ozarks Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1913, at Dora, the son of Charles Nicholas and Julia Hagen McMahan.

He received his elementary education in the schools of Howell County and attended high school in Galena, Kan. On Feb. 3, 1937 he was married at West Plains to Maudena Turner. Before his retirement, Mr. McMahan had been employed for 18 years with the U.S. Forest Service. He was of the Baptist faith with his membership in the Emmanuel Baptist Church at Pomona.

Survivors include his wife, Maudena McMahan, of the home; three children, Margaret Bauer and husband, Ronald, Cabool, Vivian Brake and husband, Dale, West Plains, and Gary McMahan and wife, Alice, Palestine, Texas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, C.E. "Buddy" McMahan, Ft. Calhoun, Neb.; one sister, Lillian Fine, Pomona; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Fassie Summers McMahan, one infant son and one sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ozarks Medical Center Memorial Tribute Fund and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Olden under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.

Nick McMahan’s grave is in Mt. Zion Cemetery located west of Olden, MO.
