Willow Springs

An "All American Certified City"

A large spring surrounded by beautiful weeping willow trees was the inspiration for the name Willow Springs. The spring is said to have been located about eight miles down Highway 60 from the present city which is situated in the northern part of Howell County.

The first house in Willow Springs was the James Harris home built in 1867. Harris is also credited for having built the first store in the town.

Early town records have disappeared so it is not known exactly when Willow Springs was incorporated. It is known that the first post office was established March 29, 1869 and it is this date that is used as the town's "birthday."
