Virginia Lee Furr ValadeAge 85, West Plains MO - Died 9:35 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, in Brooke Haven Healthcare.She was born March 27, 1923, in Washington, D.C., to James and Juliette Lyon Furr.  In 1938, she was married to Joseph Adrian Valade Sr., who preceded her in death in 1966.  Mrs. Valade enjoyed her family and spent her last few years enjoying the many beauties of the Ozarks. Edith 'Leona' Fisher VanceBorn March 15, 1924 at Mountain View, MO the daughter of Samuel Franklin O. and Rosalee (Brooks) Fisher. She passed away December 16, 2008 at Mountain View, MO at the age of 84 years. She was united in marriage to Glen O. Vance Sr. on May 28, 1940 in Mountain View, MO and to this union five children were born. Leona was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Franklin O. and Rosalee Fisher; her husband Glen O. Vance, Sr.; one infant daughter Ruby Louise; one son Donald Vance; two sisters Edna West and Betty Smith; numerous Aunts and Uncles. She is survived by two sons Glen O. Vance Jr. and wife Pat of Mountain View, MO, Charles Vance, Sr. and wife Sue of Mountain View, MO; one daughter Linda Sue Martin of Mountain View, MO; one step son Dudley Ginter and wife Glenda of Lake City, MI; two brothers Jr. Fisher of Mountain View, MO and Bill Fisher and wife Mary of Mountain View, MO; one sister Mary Wake of Mountain View, MO; one daughter in law Ella Faye Vance of Warrenton, MO; 7 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Leona was saved at the age of 12 years with her sister Edna in the Jacks Fork River by Brother Selby. She loved to fish, cook, doing cross word puzzles and reading. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Mountain View, MO with Bro. Chester Webster officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Mountain View, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Mountain View, MO.
Deanna Laraine King VandiverAge 64, West Plains MO - Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Vandiver died 9:15 p.m., Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at her home. She was born Feb. 19, 1944, in Oregon County, Mo., to Calton Edmon and Alice Pauline Willard King. On Feb. 23, 1969, she was married at Brandsville, Mo., to George Vandiver. Mrs. Vandiver collected porcelain dolls, enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She is survived by her husband, George Vandiver, of the family home; two children, Niki Moss and husband, David, and Clint Vandiver and wife, Amy, both of West Plains; five grandchildren, David Michael Moss, Brady Aaron Moss, Zachery Aaron Vandiver, Christian Michael Vandiver and Hannah Lynn Vandiver; brothers and sisters, Clarence Edward King of Sylva, Mo., Rhoda Elizabeth Watkins and husband, Ted, Othel Jackson King and wife, Joyce, Gloria May Brotherton and husband, Jess, James Richard King and wife, Leslie, Donald Ray King and wife, Jan, Joe Neal King and wife, Melinda, all of West Plains, Bobby Lee King and wife, Judy, of Springfield, Mo., Alice Jean Johnson and husband, Larry, of Koshkonong, Mo., Shirley Kay Moritz and husband, Jim, Drury, Mo., and Johnny Wayne King and wife, Donna, of Yellville, Ark.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Granville Vandiver, Vera Webber, Sue Priester, Mary Ann Collins, Tammy Stubbs and Stan Vandiver; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Keith and Venita Butler. Patricia Ruth Senteney Daughter of the late Fred and Nora Leslie Senteney, was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Indianapolis, Ind., and entered into eternal rest Nov, 1, 2008. at the age of 83 years. She was united in marriage March 15, 1949, in Brandsville, Mo., to Homer E. Vandiver.  She is survived by her children, Bonnie Pyatt, Ruth Ann Brazeal, Susan Henson, Michael Vandiver and Jesse Vandiver; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, two sisters and one son-in-law. Graveside services at Union Hill Cemetery, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, with visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, 6 to 8 p.m. Services are under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains
Betty Jo Hunt VarnellDied Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Mountain Home at the age of 70. She was born Thursday, April 28, 1938 in Hocomo, Missouri, the daughter of Delbert and Lela Briggs Hunt. She married Martin Varnell on December 22, 1989 at Mountain Home, Arkansas and had lived in this area most of her life. She worked with the Ozark Community Home and Hospice Home Health Care, working with disabled individuals. She was a beautician for many years. She was a great homemaker, baker and loved her friends and big family gatherings. Survivors: Betty Varnell is survived by her husband, Martin Varnell, 2 sons, Steve (Teresa) Evans of Isabella, MO and Mark (Dedra) Evans of Flippin, AR, step-son, Mark Varnell of Little Rock, AR, 2 daughters, Tina (Rick) Evans-King of Jolpin, Mo and Terry Word of Joplin, Mo, brother, Jim (Peg) Hunt of Kansas City, MO, sister, Pam (Dave) Parker of Kansas City, MO, 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Delores Imogene Moore VensonAge 80, West Plains MO - Graveside services were held Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the Moody Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Venson died 3:40 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Ozarks Medical Center. She was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Mt. Carmel, Ill., to Yurchel and Mary Deisher Moore. She was married to Martin William Pfister, who preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1972, and was later married to Bobby Venson. Mrs. Venson worked in the fabric department of Wal-Mart, retiring in 1990 and also was a caregiver for seven years. She loved to paint and was a member of the West Plains Artist Guild. Mrs. Venson was a gardener and seamstress, and was always helping others. She was a member of the Moody Church of Christ. She is survived by two children, Linda DeBra of West Plains, and Jerry Pfister and wife, Donna of Moody, Mo.; three grandchildren, Denise Knott and fiancé, Leslie Chasez, Greg Pfister and Melanie Pfister; five great-grandchildren, Courtney Knott, Ryan Hargrove, Jessica Hargrove, James Knott and Austin Pfister; one great-great-grandson, James Perry Knott; two brothers, Harold Moore and wife, Sandy, and Delbert Moore and wife, Marilyn; one sister, Reva James; and several nieces and nephews, including Jeannette and Sue. Novella Eldringhoff VerplanckeAge 80, West Plains MO - Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Verplancke died 9:43 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2008, in West Vue Nursing Center. She was born Nov. 6, 1927, in White Church, Mo., to Conrad and Pauline Baser Eldringhoff. On May 14, 1949, she was married at White Church, Mo., to Clarence Verplancke. She was a LPN graduating with the first class of the West Plains Voc-Tech School and retired from Southwest Truck Body as the company nurse. Mrs. Verplancke was of the Catholic faith, with her membership in St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 49 years. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Verplancke of West Plains; two children, Mary Rhine and husband, Gary, of West Plains and Greg Verplancke and wife, Carolyn, of Mountain Home, Ark.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Harris and husband, Joe L. Harris, Jr. and Nathan Verplancke and wife, Mandy, all of West Plains; four brothers, Maurice Eldringhoff and wife, Darlene, of Summersville, Mo., Al Eldringhoff and wife, Geneva, of White Church, Mo., Stephen Eldringhoff and wife, Nellie, of Hocomo, Mo., and Paul Eldringhoff of West Plains; one sister, Rosalie Chase of Eureka, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Clifford Carl VigdalAge 79, Willow Springs, died 3:45 a.m. today, Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Willow Care Nursing Home, Willow Springs.  He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. The body will lie in state at Carter Funeral Home in West Plains from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Cemetery, South Beloit. 
Evelin Sue Deatherage Vincent Age 68, Moody - Funeral services for were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Deatherage died 3:28 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, in Brooke Haven HealthCare. She was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Moody, Mo., to William Lee and Faye Elizabeth Simmons Deatherage. On Jan. 17, 1959, she was married at Moody, Mo., to Wayne Leroy Vincent who preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2005. Before her retirement, Mrs. Deatherage had been employed at Baxter Lab and Marathon. She enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Mrs. Deatherage was of the Baptist faith with her membership in the Center Grove Baptist Church for fifty years. She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Vincent and wife Darlis of West Plains, Mo., and Carmon Vincent and wife Bobbie Jo of Moody, Mo.; five grandchildren, Bradley Vincent, Tiffany Vincent, Dana Vincent, Austin Vincent and Rhonda Green; and one sister, Virgie Bridges and husband, Gaylon of Viola, Ark. Her parents, and one great nephew, Bobby Bridges, precede her in death. Visitation was Tuesday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial was held at Moody Cemetery. John Lee VivoneLong time resident of Willow Springs, unexpectedly passed away while at his home Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, due to natural causes. Born to John and Elizabeth Vivone on June 22, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, he was 54 years old. Although John was born in Texas a state which he dearly loved, he spent most of his childhood years growing up in Willow Springs, where he attended the local schools. He was a graduate of Willow Springs High School, class of 1972. He was a member of the Willow Springs Masonic Lodge and a member of the Angus Cattle Association. John was described as a hard-working man who has worked numerous jobs throughout his life, especially in the field of construction. However, he mostly enjoyed working on his farm raising cattle. He loved the farm life and all that it afforded him, where he could be out in the country enjoying the outdoors. John also enjoyed hunting and fishing. But most of all he loved spending time with his son, Josh, whether it be arrowhead hunting or working on his truck. Any and all time spent with his son was what brought him the greatest joy. John will be missed by family and all who knew him. John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Joshua L. Vivone of Rolla, Mo., and his brother, Jim H. Vivone of Willow Springs. Funeral services for John will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Willow Funeral Home located at 106 E. Third Street in Willow Springs. Interment will follow Wednesday’s service at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
Gordon Murray VoelschowAge 57, Caulfield, MO. Born Jan. 31, 1951, in Charles City, Iowa, to Robert and Marcia Murray Voelschow.  He died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Mr. Voelschow had received an Associate Degree in Business Management and on July 24, 1970, was married at Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Sharon Sawyer.  Mr. Voelschow was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army and was employed as an assistant manager at Wal-Mart in West Plains.  He was a member and treasurer of the Pioneer Saddle Club, and was a volunteer and president of the board of the Helping Hands Equine Therapy. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Voelschow, of the family home; two children, Christine Hilborn, husband, Andrew, and Sean Voelschow, wife, Deana, both of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Miranda Lewis, Michaela Lewis, Devon Voelschow, Zachary Craft, John Paul Craft, Michael Craft, Hannah Hilborn, Hailey Hilborn and Heidi Hilborn; his father, Robert Voelschow, Odebolt, Iowa; one brother, Neil Voelschow, wife, Phyllis; three sisters, Diane Hoban, husband, Denny, Ila Young and Joy Elder, husband, Mike; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Barbara Sawyer, Humboldt, Iowa; one brother-in-law; six sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. His mother and two sisters, Betty Voelschow and Jerry Lynn Voelschow, precede him in death. Anne K. Kalwas VokacGoldie May Redburn VonAlLmenWillow Springs - Passed away quietly on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, while at home surrounded by her family.  Born on Feb. 8, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Anna (Bubik) Kalwas, she was 93 years old. Mrs. Vokac grew up in the Chicago area, where she lived until moving to Willow Springs, Mo., three years ago.  She was a member of the American Legion Post 703 in Fox Lake, Ill., and the Homemakers Extension of Lake County.  She enjoyed crafting, sewing, gardening and bird watching.  She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Mrs. Vokac was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Vokac in 1986; a son, John Charles Vokac; and a sister, Clara Ocenesak. She is survived by her children, Thomas Vokac and his wife Lucy of Naperville, Ill.; James W. Vokac and his wife, Judy, of Willow Springs, Mo.; and Barbara Nyden of Willow Springs, Mo. Mrs. Vokac is further survived by her three granddaughters Elizabeth Vokac of Chicago, Ill.; Jeanette Nyden and her husband, Timothy Lohraff of Seattle, Wash.; and KathLaine Snyder and her husband, Larry, of Fairfield, Ohio.  Numerous nieces, nephews and friends further survive. A visitation was held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the Willow Funeral Home.  A visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, in Fox Lake, Illinois.  The funeral service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at the K.K. Age 86, East Peoria, IL and formerly of West Plains, MO - Funeral services will be Dec. 17, 1998 in the Rose Chapel of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains, with Roger Freeman, Houston officiating. Mrs. VonAllmen died Dec. 14, 1998 at Fondulac Woods Health Care Center, Peoria, IL. She was born Feb. 19, 1912 at Rover, MO, the daughter of William Franklin Redburn and Sylvia May (Childers) Redburn. On Dec. 27, 1927 she was married at Rover, MO to Lee VonAllmen, who preceded her in death Dec. 14, 1960. Mrs. VonAllmen worked as a house mother of the Methodist Medical Center, Helen House, for student nurses; was employed at Bergner's Warehouse; worked at Sullivan's Shoe Store; and had been the evening receptionist at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. She was of the Baptist faith, with her membership in the Shiloh Baptist Church at Rover, MO. Survivors include two children Colleen Wallace and husband Don, of Washington, IL; and Ben J. VonAllmen of Ingleside, IL; four grandchlldren, Donald Gene Judd; Kathy Wendt; Keith Lee VonAllmen; and Heidi L. VonAllmen; and one great-grandchild, John H. Wendt; one sister, Elsie Huddleston, Rover, MO; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son Wayman Gene VonAllmen; two brothers; and one sister. The body will lie in state Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Family visitation will be Thursday. KENNETH LEE VONALLMENAge  48, of Nixa, MO - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2007, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.Mr. VonAllmen died at 7:55 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo. He was born on May 15, 1958, in West Plains, Mo. to Wayne and Betty McCracken VonAllmen. Mr. VonAllmen was a graduate of Texas State Technical School and was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. On July 16, 2005, he was married at Nixa, Mo., to Robin Moran. He was an auto body technician and had been employed at Friendly Ford in Springfield, Mo. Mr. VonAllmen was an artist and craftsman; he enjoyed restoring cars and making dream catchers. Mr. VonAllmen was baptized at the Faith Assembly of God Church in West Plains and was a member of the Nixa Christian Church, Nixa, Mo.He is survived by his wife, Robin VonAllmen of the family home; five children, Nathan VonAllmen and Cindy Fels, Eva VonAllmen, Hanna VonAllmen, Jessica Hopkins and Carol Huff and husband, Ricky, all of Nixa, Mo.; one grandchild, Mykel VonAllmen of Nixa, Mo.; his parents, Wayne and Betty VonAllmen of West Plains; two brothers, Doug VonAllmen of West Plains and Carl VonAllmen of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Terri VonAllmen of West Plains and Pam Jones and husband, Mark of Tipton, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.One brother, Michael, and one sister, Brandy, precede him in death.
