brother, Fred Jackman and wife, Flossie, Alton, Mo.; one sister-in-law,
Carmelee (Risenhoover) Lewallen, Martinsburg, Mo.; numerous nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Ollie and Alpha Jackman; five brothers, Russell Jackman,
Lonnie Jackman, Ronnie Jackman, Ray Gene Jackman and Leo Risenhoover;
two sisters, Leatrice Jackman-Johnson and Anetha Jackman-Alberson.
Services were 2 p.m. Dec. 6, 2008, in Clary Funeral Home Chapel, Alton,
Mo., with burial in Cave Springs Cemetery. |

Lewis and Maude Lee Norris
Jackson in Cairo, Illinois. He departed this life on Monday, May
12, 1997 at Mountain View Health Care, Mountain View, Missouri at the
age of 90 years. He was married to Jane Callahan on April 5, 1942 at
St. Louis, Missouri. Alvin is preceded in death by his parents,
two sisters and two half-sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jane, of
the home in Eminence, Missouri; one son Donald Jackson of Lutesville,
Tennessee, two daughters, Jeannette Ray of Tampa, Florida, and Rev.
Joyce Havener of Plainview, Texas; three half-brothers, Art Swofford of
Overland, Missouri, Ed Swofford of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Elmer
Swofford of Mexico, Missouri; nine grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 14, 1997
at New Eminence Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri with Rev. Ronald Havener
officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Yarber
Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri. |

Died at age 87 at her home.
She was the daughter of Samuel Ernest Nuttle and Edith Giddings. On
Jan. 1, 1941 she married Maurice Jackson at Arnold Ness Co KS. They had
three chiildren, Brenda Stoner and Phill and Jill (twins). She was a
sister of Marjorie Depee, Robert Nuttle, Wayne Nuttle, Dudley Nuttle
and Jerry Everhart. She owned and operated Jack's Dry Cleaners. She was
of the Methodist faith. Services were under the direction of Yarber
Mortuary of Mountain View, with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery at

Funeral services will be held
at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2006, in the Rose Chapel at
Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Jackson died at 8:46 a.m. on
Saturday, July 22, 2006, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in
Memphis Shelby Co TN. He was born Jan. 27, 1949, in Monroe Ouachita
Parish LA, to Louis and Vivian Hedrick Jackson. On Jan. 18, 1970, Mr.
Jackson was married at Bastrop, La., to Evelyn Lightsey. He was a
veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and
was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled
Veterans. Before his retirement, he worked for Wal-Mart. Mr. Jackson
was a member of the Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife,
Evelyn Jackson, of the family home; four children, Roger Jackson Jr.,
of the family home, Louis Jackson and his wife, LeeAnna, of Fort
Campbell, Ky., Michelle Pruitt and her husband, Travis, of Pleasant
Hope, Mo., and Steven Jackson of Springfield, Mo.; and four
grandchildren, Trevor Jackson, Ashleigh Jackson, Hannah Jackson and
Reid Pruitt. His parents precede him in death. Visitation will be from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial
will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. |

Allen James |
Passed away on Friday, May 16,
2008, while at Willow Care
Nursing Home in Willow Springs. Born on July 19, 1921 in Coffeyville,
Kan., to Jesse and Martha (Plattner) James, he was 86 years old. Mr.
James grew up in Willow Springs where he graduated from high school in
1939. On Sept. 7, 1941, he married his high school sweetheart, Dolores
Austin, and to this union four children were born. In 1943, Mr. James
entered the Army Air Corp and flew B-17 bombers out of Foggia, Italy
into Germany. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the
highest award a pilot can receive. He was awarded the cross for flying
his B-17 through the Bremmer Pass of the Italian Alps with both of the
engines shot out on the same wing. After World War II he joined the Air
Force Reserves, flying out of Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base near
Kansas City. He flew the C-119 Flying Boxcar in missions that included
support to Alaska after a massive earthquake in the early 1960’s. In
1965, while on a mission near Kansas City, he was credited with
locating a civilian aircraft that had lost all electronics and
communications and leading that aircraft to a safe landing at
Richards-Gebaur. Mr. James later flew the C-124 Globemaster out
of Homestead Air Force Base in Homestead, Fla., during the Vietnam War.
In 1972, after 28 years of service to the United States, he retired
from the Air Force Reserves with the rank of Lt. Colonel. In addition
to serving as a combat pilot, he also was an instructor and command
pilot during his Air Force career. After his return to Willow
Springs, Mr. James farmed, ran a saw mill and worked as an excavation
contractor. Mr. James was a long-time member of the Trinity Baptist
Church in Willow Springs where he served as a deacon for nearly 30
years, earning the distinction of “deacon emeritus” from the church.
Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Martha James,
and his wife, Dolores James. He is survived by his children, Douglas
James of Branson; Charles James and his wife, Debra, of Blue Springs;
Mark James and his wife, Debra, of Jefferson City; and Judi Freeland of
Santa Barbara, Calif. He is further survived by seven grandchildren and
two great grandchildren and his brothers, Lyle James of Willow Springs
and John James of Cassville, Mo. Friends are invited to attend a
funeral service for Mr. James at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at the
Trinity Baptist Church, 1001 N. Harris St., Willow Springs. The
visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Willow
Funeral Home, 106 E. Third St., Willow Springs. Burial will follow
Friday’s service at the Willow Springs City Cemetery. Arrangements are

Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, in
Branson. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at
Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home in Branson with Chaplain Larry Kackley
officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hope Cemetery, Drury, Mo.,
at 2 p.m. Cuma was born Nov. 18, 1937, to Joe Ray Harris and Blanche
Elizabeth (Welton) Harris. She married Mervin Jameson on Sept. 30,
1960, in Leavenworth, Kan. Last fall, they celebrated 47 years
together. Cuma worked at a preschool in Alaska and then headstart in
Willow Springs, Mo. She moved to Branson from Vanzant, Mo. While in
Branson, she worked on the Showboat Branson Belle. Cuma was preceded in
death by her parents, Joe and Blanche Harris; and two brothers, James
and Jack. She is survived by her husband, Mervin Jameson of Branson;
her daughter, Tammy Jameson, of Branson; and one sister, Joan Hoffarth
and husband, Norman, of Vanzant. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be

worked as a general laborer and as a mechanic in the St. Louis area. In
the early 1990s, he moved to Mountain View, Mo., where he could be
closer to his family. Byron enjoyed fishing and detailing cars. His
greatest enjoyment was to cook and grill. He loved spending time with
his family and friends, especially his great cousins. Although he did
not belong to one particular church, Bryon enjoyed attending the many
churches in the area. Byron was a wonderful brother, nephew and cousin.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Cremation
arrangements were under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of

Home. Mr. Jewell died 4 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at his home. He
was born June 28, 1940, in West Plains MO, to Ralph Ernest and Goldie
Mae Tune Jewell. He received his education at the Rock Valley School,
and on March 30, 1959, was married at West Plains MO, to Wilma Jean
Reid. Mr. Jewell was owner of Jewell Trucking, was a member of
the AmVets, was a hunter and had a beloved companion, his dog
Molly. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and
joy. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jewell, of the family home;
three children, Rhonda Singletary, husband, Dan, Ricky Jewell, wife,
Stacey, and Jody Henson, husband, Jim; six grandchildren, Chad Jewell,
wife, Ashley, Brandi Anderson, husband, Trey, Dustin Jewell, Coty
Henson, Dalton Henson and Evan Singletary; five great-grandchildren,
Tyler, Hannah, Mason, Emma, Laken and expecting another; two brothers,
Jerry Jewell, wife, Brenda, and Larry Jewell, wife, Belita; one sister,
Terre Hicks, husband, Don; several nieces and nephews; and many
friends. His parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and
Olive Reid; and granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Jewell, precede him in

Age 88, Koshkonong MO - Died Dec.
3, 2005, at Ozarks Medical
Center. She was born July 16, 1917, in Howell County, MO, to Lee and
Mae Heckart Morrison. She graduated from Drury College and on May 27,
1939, was marred at Leota, MO to Carl L. Johnson who preceded her in
death on May 27, 1976. Before her retirement Johnson had been a
teacher for 42 years having taught at the Thayer Elementary School and
other area schools. She was a member and former secretary of the
Retired Teacher's Association both state and local, member of Daughters
of American Revolution, served as president of Fun and Friends board of
directors and was treasurer of the Council on Aging of Oregon County.
She was the author of the "Chatter Box" which was published in the West
Plains Daily Quill. She was a member of the Thayer Church of Christ
since 1944. Survivors include two children, Don Johnson and wife,
Carol, of Koshkonong, MO, and Elbert Johnson and wife, Marian of Rapid
City, SD; seven grandchildren, Leslie (& Troy) Coats, Nancy (&
Keith) Moore, Carla (& Alan) Bassham, Jeremy (& Brooke)
Johnson, Kendra Johnson, Troy Lee (& Keleen) Johnson, and Julie
(& Al) Flack; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline
Chapin of West Plains; and two nephews, Roy Chapin and Robert Chapin.
Her parents; husband; brother, Jack Morrison; one brother-in-law and
one sister-in-law preceded her in death. Funeral services were Dec. 7

MO - Passed away Friday,
July 11, 2008, at his home. He was born on Sept. 2, 1944, in Ellington,
Mo., the son of Warren Omer and Imo Jane (Collins) Johnson. Charles was
united in marriage to Barbara Ann Harmon on Sept. 2, 1965, at the home
of the Rev. Roy Sorrell in Caldwell, Idaho. To this union, two
daughters were born, Deborah Ann and Anna Marie. They owned and
operated the Lonesome Pine Dairy for a number of years until retiring.
He was also known by family and friends by his nickname, “Bozo.” He
loved to hunt, fish, travel and spend time with his neighbors and
grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one
brother, Adrain Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the
family home; two daughters, Deborah Ann Kraft and husband, Chris of
West Plains, Mo., and Anna Marie Mayberry and husband, Shane of Hutton
Valley, Mo.; five grandchildren, Justin Kraft, Jared Kraft, Dakota
Mayberry, Ethan Mayberry and Samantha Mayberry; one brother, William
“Bill” Johnson and wife, Emma; one niece, Rene Johnson; one nephew,
Wayne Johnson and wife, Stacey and their daughter, Jordan and son,
Cole; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be dearly
missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services were Tuesday, July
15, 2008, at the CrossWay Fellowship Church in Willow Springs, Mo.,
with Stanley Collins officiating. Pallbearers were David Modranski,
Wayne Johnson, Shane Mayberry, Dakota Mayberry, Chris Kraft and Justin
Kraft. Honorary pallbearer was his brother, William “Bill” Johnson.
Interment was in the Willow Springs City Cemetery under the direction

away Oct. 8, 2008, at Willow
Health Care in Willow Springs. Born Oct. 4, 1910, in Douglas County,
Mo., to Noble and Laura (Lovan) Smallwood. Elsie was the eldest
of nine children born to Noble and Laura. She was raised in rural
Douglas County where she was baptized as a young girl at Little Zion
Baptist Church. She would later remind people that it was a Missionary
Baptist Church. She married Virgil Johnson in February 1930, and the
couple had seven children. Elsie has resided in Willow Springs for many
years. She was described by her family as a wonderful mother and
grandmother. She was a very outgoing and friendly person who never met
anyone she could not strike up a conversation with. She will be missed
by all who knew her. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Noble
and Laura Smallwood; her husband, Virgil Johnson, in 1973; a daughter,
Hester, in 1990; and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her
children, Wilma Pace and husband, Norman, Springfield, Velma Clinton,
Idaho, Norma Ash, Republic, Lester Johnson and wife, Betty, Cassville,
Helen Venter and husband, Ernie, Rogersville, and Claude Johnson and
wife, Wanda, Pomona; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta Blanton, Valley Park.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday,
Oct. 11, 2008, at Willow Funeral Home, 106 E. Third St., Willow

2008, at her home. She was
born the daughter of Helen Saukko Holm and the late Henry Holm, on May
21, 1951, in Moose Lake, Minn. She was united in marriage Nov. 9, 1985,
in Duluth, Minn., to Ed Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Ed
Johnson, of the home, Pomona, Mo.; her mother, Helen Saukko Holm, of
Kettle River, Minn.; two stepchildren, Erik Johnson of Boulder, Colo.,
Zachary Johnson and Amanda, of Willow Springs, Mo.; and two children,
Leah Johnson Riviello and husband, Nicholas, of Willow Springs, Mo.,
and Nikolas Johnson of Pomona, Mo.; two brothers, Bruce Holm and wife,
Carol, of Duluth, Minn., and Eric Holm and Gabriela, of Minneapolis,
Minn.; and one step-granddaughter, Nicole Johnson of Willow Springs,
Mo. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Holm. She was a
member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willow Springs, Mo., where
she was an organist. She loved riding horses, raised pigs for many
years, and loved all animals in general. She was a piano teacher,
enjoyed directing plays, was a big “I Love Lucy” fan, loved Walt Disney
movies and memorabilia, and was a huge Rolling Stones fan. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Relay For Life, American Cancer
Society, and can be left at the funeral home. Celebration of life
services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the
direction of the Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains. There will be
a 'Celebration of Life' in lieu of a funeral or memorial for Gail
Johnson on Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Willow
Springs. There will be a potluck dinner open to the public, so all are
invited to bring a dish and join in remembering Gail with lots of
laughter, good food, good friends and a little of the 'Rolling Stones'
mixed in. |

service to celebrate his
life was held Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at the Amy Baptist Church. Mr.
Johnson died 10:54 p.m., Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at his home. He was born
Sept. 26, 1930, in Illinois to Rennie and Alma Johnson. He had 14
siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He was a Baptist minister
for more than 50 years and pastored Oak Grove, Center Grove and Amy
Baptist Churches in the Howell County Association. Many lives were
touched by his ministry. He is survived by his wife, Janice, of the
family home; seven children, Bruce Johnson and wife, Ruth, Brian
Johnson and wife, Kim, Beverly Mercer, Bonita Lau, Mark Johnson,
Herbert Johnson Jr. and wife, Melissa, and Kisa Roberts and husband,
Michael. He was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren, Bethany
Johnson, Matthew Johnson and wife, Sabrina, Megan Johnson, Holly
Johnson, Maranda Johnson and husband, Jamie, Edward Jeter, Tiawna
Johnson, Jared Johnson, Elijah Johnston, Christopher Moore, Dominic
Roberts, Laura Hamlet and husband, Jacob, Travis Roberts and Lucas
Roberts; and two great-grandchildren, Colton and Abigail. Two

Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1942, in
West Plains, Mo., to Scott and Lucy Collins Johnson. In 1986, he was
married at Salem, Ark., to Sue Rife. Mr. Johnson loved old Western
movies and enjoyed gardening. He was of the Baptist faith. He is
survived by his wife, Sue Johnson, of the family home; four children,
Talesa Peek and husband, Randy, Bobby Johnson and wife, Racquel, Connie
Cunningham and Michael Babeon; three stepchildren, Eddie Johnson and
wife, Ann, Gary Johnson and wife, Debbie, and Curtis Johnson; numerous

20, 2008, in Springfield,
Mo. He was born on April 5, 1957. Jimmie attended Clovis High School in
Clovis, Calif., where he graduated in June, 1975. He served in the U.S.
Air Force and retired from ranching in October, 1995, after 20 years.
He was united in marriage to Sara (Batista Ruiz) Johnson, on April 7,
1990, in Panama. He was a volunteer for Boy Scouts of America. He is
survived by his wife, Sara Johnson; and his mother, Lucille Mosby. A
funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, in
Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 Seminole, Springfield, Mo. Burial
will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from

- HAD A CANCER ON THE
BREAST - King Johnson, an old and well known resident of West Plains,
died Thursday at his home three miles northeast of this city. His
remains were laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery Friday afternoon,
services being conducted by Rev. Lester Bradword. Mr. Johnson and his
father, J. W. Johnson, came from Alabama to Howell County in 1898 and
first located near the Carson Iron Mill, where both of them were
employed a long time. Later they moved to the farm where Mr. Johnson

Home. Mrs. Johnson died 11:05 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 in Cox
Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo. She was born June 21, 1930, in
Garden City, Kan., to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rose. On July 1, 1946, she was
married at Garden City, Kan., to Delbert Johnson, who preceded her in
death on July 18, 2000. Before her retirement, Mrs. Johnson was a nurse
for 37 years. She was of Pentecostal faith and had attended the Victory
Family Worship Center. She is survived by four sons, Delbert Johnson,
Jr. and wife Billie of Fort Scott, Kan., Michael Johnson Sr. and wife
Tina of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Timothy Johnson and wife Sandy, and Thomas
Johnson Sr. and wife Deanna, all of West Plains; 11 grandchildren,
Lisa, Sandy, Jeffrey, Heather, Mike Jr., Kent, Dustin, Kamryn, Tom and
Stephanie; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert J. Rose of
Garden City, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews including one special
niece, Tammy Rose. Her parents; husband; one son, David Johnson; one
daughter-in-law, Brenda Johnson; one daughter, Janice Kay Storms; one
son-in-law, Ted Storms; and one granddaughter, Sherrie Storms, precede
her in death. Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday at

Daughter of the late Robert and
Annie Purdy Roper, was born
at Grimmet MO, Sep 20, 1898. Entered into eternal rest Apr. 24, 1980 at
the age of 81 years. On Dec. 13, 1917 she was married at West Plains MO
to Dennis F. Benfield Sr., who preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1918. To
this union was born one son, Dennis F. Benfield, Jr. On Mar. 6, 1925,
she was married at West Plains MO to Ira H. Johnson. Surviving Mrs.
Johnson are her husband, Ira H. Johnson, West Plains MO, and five
children, who are Dennis F. Benfield, Jr., Lutesville MO, Maxine
Thornton, Willow Springs MO, Wayne Johnson, Republic MO, Fern Collins
and Wayland Johnson, both of Hermann MO. There are eleven grandchildren
and eleven great-grandchildren surviving, as do five brothers and four
sisters, William S. Roper, St Louis MO, Laura Roberts, Denver CO, Henry
Roper and Ida Collins, both of West Plains MO, Eddie Roper, Mountain
Grove MO, Alice Keeler and March Roper, both of Willow Springs MO, Gay
Roper, Licking MO, and Maye Holman, Colton CA. Preceding Mrs. Johnson
in death are her parents, a brother, Joe Roper, and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Johnson embraced the Christian faith Jan. 11, 1925, and became a
member of the Little Zion Baptist Church in 1926. On Nov. 1, 1931, her
letter was transferred to the Big Springs Baptist Church, where she
taught a Sunday School class for 25 years. Mrs. Johnson was a Charter
Member of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 540, Dora MO, and she was a Past
Worthy Matron of that Chapter. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors
of America. She had spent her early life on a farm in Douglas County,
moving to West Plains with her family in 1960. She and her husband
donated the land on which Big Springs Missionary Baptist Church now

Elva Sutton Johnson on Oct. 4, 1925, in Springfield, Mo., and died June
15, 2009, in West Plains, Mo. He was united in marriage to Sept. 21,
1984, in Salem, Ark., to Mary Davis Dunkin. He is survived by his wife,
Mary Davis Johnson, of the home in West Plains; two stepsons, David
Dunkin and wife, Becky, of West Plains, and Rick Dunkin and wife,
Wendy, of West Plains; two brothers, Dean Johnson and wife, Janice, of
West Plains, and Keith Johnson and wife, Brenda, of West Plains; five
step-grandchildren, Misty McCrackin and husband, James, of West Plains,
Dusty Simmons and husband, Jim, of Brandsville, Michael Dunkin of West
Plains, Courtney Judd and husband, Brian, of West Plains, and Lindsey
Dunkin of West Plains; five step-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Megan,
Logan, Hannah and Hunter; and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Glen and Ken
Johnson. He was employed with McDonnel Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis,
Mo., for 32 years. He was a Christian. He enjoyed hunting and fishing,
as well as playing the guitar with his family and friends. Memorial

unexpectedly on Nov. 15,
2008, near West Plains. Born on Dec. 26, 1985, in Mountain Home AR, to
Dewayne and Julie Hale Johnson. Ricky grew up in Willow Springs where
he graduated from Willow Springs High School, 'Class of 2004.' While in
school, he played and excelled in football, basketball and baseball,
and was also involved with the ROTC Program. He was described by his
family as a big-hearted kid who would do anything for his friends.
Ricky was very close to his family and especially loved his brothers
and sister. He had many enjoyments which included riding his motorcycle
and being outdoors. Ricky had been an active member of the Westside
Family Life Center in Willow Springs. While growing up, he loved to
attend the youth church camp every year where he could be outdoors and
spend time with his church friends. Ricky will be greatly missed by his
family and all who knew him. Ricky is survived by his parents, Dewayne
and Julie Johnson, Willow Springs; his brothers and sister, Justin,
Clayton and Stacie Johnson, all of Willow Springs; his grandparents,
Sharon and W.R. Rich of Gainesville, and Dal and Veda Johnson of Willow
Springs; and his great-grandmother, Thelma Wilder of Mountain View.
Ricky further leaves his aunt, Theresa White, and her sons, Kurt Bryan
and Ethan Smith, of Willow Springs; his uncle, Steven Sisney of Fond Du
Lac, Wis.; and his very special Cousins, Ricky Price of Beebe AR, Tracy
and Kirby Pace of Indiana, Jason and Jill Price of Indiana, and Kelly
and Allen Stanford of Oklahoma. Ricky is further survived by numerous
other Cousins, great-aunts and uncles and friends. Friends are invited
to attend the funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at the
Westside Family Life Center, 1274 County Road 5270 in Willow Springs.

preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1996. Mrs. Johnson was of the Baptist

home. He was born Feb. 26, 1950, in West Plains, Mo., to Edsel Johnston
and Cleta Harper Johnston. He graduated from Bakersfield High School
with the class of 1968, and on March 15, 1976, was married at Rock
Springs, Wyo., to Diane Webb. Mr. Johnston was a veteran having served
with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a construction
supervisor, and before his retirement built ultra light aircraft, owned
an airport and was an advanced instructor. He was a member of Wilburn
Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Diane Johnston, of the
family home; three children, Ronavin Johnston, Live Oak, Fla., Relina
Baker and Roxsel Peliham, both of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren;
his father, Edsel Johnston, Caulfield, Mo.; his mother, Cleta Johnston,

was a quality control inspector with Baxter Labs in Mountain Home, Ark.

daughters at her side, after a long and courageous battle with
cancer. She was born Feb. 5, 1934, in West Plains, Mo., to Robert
Fulton and Oma Coble Acklin. On Jan. 13, 1950, she was married at
Salem, Ark., to Charles Leroy Johnston, who preceded her in death on
Sept. 19, 1994. Mrs. Johnston had been co-owner of Leroy’s Honda
for many years and before becoming ill, she worked at the Christos
House Resale Shop. She was a strong, independent, hardworking
lady who especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnston was of the Baptist faith. She

Brawley Jones, was born July
3, 1926, in Fremont, Mo., and departed this life July 22, 2008, in
Winona, Missouri. He had attained the age of 82 years and 19 days. Rev.
Jones had resided in Mountain View, Mo., for the past six years and was
formerly of Fremont, Mo. He was an ordained minister with the Church of
God of Prophecy and started his ministry in 1955, and was a pastor for
35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War
II. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, deer and rabbit hunting
and running his foxhound. On Oct. 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to
Rebba GeraldineYardley in Pocahontas, Ark. Survivors include his wife,
Geraldine Jones of Mountain View; one son, Billy Jones and his wife,
Shirley of Springfield; two daughters, Judy James and her husband,
Travis of St. Charles and Jerry Cooper of Mountain View; two brothers,
Rev. Calvin Jones of Fremont and Lloyd Jones of Gilbertsville, Ky.; two
sisters, Lois Flint and Reva Burke both of Van Buren; seven
grandchildren, Stephen, Kimberly, Melissa, Dawn, Rick, Carlena and
Wendy; 14 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who
mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Ray
C. and John D. Jones; eight brothers, Clyde, Vernon, Delmar, Dillard,
John, Richard, Everett and Melbern Jones; and one sister, Melba Payne.
Funeral services were Friday, July 25, in the funeral home chapel with
Rev. Garry Reagan and Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial was in Green

Patrol seeking vehicle involved in fatal crash near Winona - Missouri
Highway Patrol troopers are looking for a vehicle that left the scene
of a fatal collision Tuesday on U.S. 60 near Winona. Ray Jones, 82, of
Mountain View, died in the 1:55 p.m. crash one mile west of Winona when
a westbound 2005 Ford Taurus driven by Rebba G. Jones, 78, was hit by
an unknown vehicle, troopers reported. Rebba Jones was taken to St.
Francis Hospital in Mountain View for treatment of moderate injuries.
The collision occurred when an unknown vehicle overtook Jones’ vehicle
and sideswiped it, causing Jones’ vehicle to leave the roadway and hit
several trees, according to the patrol. The Winona Police Department,
the Winona Fire Department and the Shannon County Sheriff’s Department
also responded to the scene.

Patrol seeking blue Ford extended cab truck possibly involved in fatal
accident - The Missouri Highway Patrol is looking for a blue Ford
Super-Duty extended cab pickup truck that could have been involved in a
hit-and-run crash in Shannon County that resulted in the death of an
82-year-old Mountain View man. The vehicle that left the scene of an
accident that occurred at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 60 just west of
Winona sustained damage to its right side in the crash, according to
the patrol. Ray Jones died in the crash of a car driven by his wife,
Rebba, 78, after it was sideswiped and ran into several trees,
according to the patrol. Rebba Jones was taken to St. Francis Hospital
in Mountain View for treatment. Anyone with information related to the
crash can call Troop G at 469-3121.

the Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Jones was of the Baptist faith and was
a member of the United Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Jones is survived

He lived for many years on the family farm in Burnham where he enjoyed
working outdoors with his brothers and sisters. He has lived in the
Springfield and Branson area for many years. Mr. Jones was preceded in
death by his parents Marion and Verdie Jones, a brother Lester C. Jones
on March 24, 2007, and two infant brothers. He is survived by his
four sisters, Ella Marie Lovan of Shawnee Mission, Kan., Gladys Chadd
of Kansas City, Mo., Juanita Stubbs and her husband Lawrence of Willow

at NHC of West Plains,
Mo. She was born Jan. 24, 1922, to Rolla M. Holm and Althadia Bedford
Holm at Birch Tree, Mo. Jennie was united in marriage June 29, 1940, to
Walter Jones at Eminence, Mo. To this union two sons, Troyce Jones and
Junior Jones, were born. Those left to mourn her passing, husband,
Walter, of the home; sons, Troyce Jones, Douglas County, Mo., Junior
Jones and wife, Toni, of Alton, Mo.; granddaughter, Julie Jones, Chapel
Hill, N.C.; grandson, Michael Jones and wife, Wendy; two
great-granddaughters, Kaitlin Marie and Karlie Renae, Alton Mo.; two
sisters, Irene Luff, Springfield Mo., and Mary Baker, Granite City,
Ill.; one brother, Claude Holm, Ogden, Utah; and many nieces and
nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents,
two sisters, two brothers, two infant sons, one nephew, one
granddaughter and daughter-in-law. Jennie was saved and baptized at the
Banner Church of God of Prophecy in Birch Tree, Mo. She later attended
the Church of God of Prophecy when she was able. She and her husband,
Walter, owned and operated businesses in Birch Tree. She had several
hobbies and crafts that she enjoyed. Most of all she enjoyed being with
family and friends. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday,
at the Church of God of Prophecy in Birch Tree. Funeral services will
be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Church of God of Prophecy in
Birch Tree. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the

of Grover Cleveland Young & Dicey Jeannette Sisson. She was adopted
by Lottie & Shelby Ingold (aunt and uncle). Married Spencer William
Jones Aug. 22, 1940 at Ozark MO. She was involved with the American
Legion and VFW. Mother of Teresa Pierce and Terry Jones. Sister of Rex
Ingold and Ruby Lee Armstrong. Arrangements under the direction of

Daughter of the late Marcos and
Maria Gonzales Mendez, was
born in Nueva Ocotepeque Honduras Central America July 16, 1902.
Entered into eternal rest April 26, 1974, at the age of 71 years. In
1922 Mrs. Jones was married in Honduras Central America to Waldo Jones,
who survives her, as do seven children, Connie Borra, Cayuta NY, Ruby
Mayou, Pomona MO, Rita Allen, Alpine NY, Robert Jones, West Plains MO,
Waldo Jones, Artesia CA, Vincent Jones, Newburg Park CA, and Frank
Jones, Burnsville MN. Also surviving are twenty-five grandchildren and
three great grandchildren. Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her
parents. She has been a member of the Catholic Church since childhood
and for the past five months has been a communicant of St Josephs
Catholic Church at White Churchy MO. PALLBEARERS: Edwin Bauer, Ralph
Mayou, Michael Mayou, Guadaloupe de la Cruz, Robert A. Jones, Franklin

A resident of Willow Springs MO,
unexpectedly passed away
early Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at her home from natural causes.
Born Feb. 3, 1931, in Murray, KY., she was 77 years old. Neva was
married to James Jones Jr. May 24, 1952, in Corinth, MS. However,
the two made their home in Lockport, IL., where they raised their five
children. After approximately 35 years, they retired and moved to
Eminence, MO., where they lived for approximately 12 years before
finally settling in Willow Springs to be closer to friends. Neva was
described by her family as the 'Queen of Facts,' due to the fact that
she loved to read and commit to memory the World and Farmer’s Almanac.
She absolutely loved flowers and to work in her garden and
flowerbeds. She also loved to be outdoors to bird watch, and to
ride with her husband on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. She was
considered by her family as a very wonderful and caring mother and
beloved wife. She will be greatly missed by her family and those
who knew her. Neva was predeceased by her mother Francis Jewell Wells.
She is survived by her loving husband, James 'Jimmy' Jones of Willow
Springs and her children, Donna J. Wrobel and her husband Joe of
Lockport, IL; Jimmy D. Jones of East Moline, IL.; Tommy L. Jones and
his wife Angela of Mountain View MO; Debbie S. Kealey and her husband
John of Crest Hill, IL.; and Lisa K. Weldy and her husband Dean of
Wakarusa, IN. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren, and one sister, Carla Brandon and her
husband Joe of Murray, KY. Numerous nieces and nephews further survive.
Funeral services for Neva were Friday, May 23, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the
Willow Funeral Home in Willow Springs with Pastor Scott Williamson
officiating. Burial was at the Willow Springs City Cemetery in
Willow Springs. Arrangements were under the direction of Willow
Funeral Home. |

Son of the late Zimri and Ossie
Brawley Jones, was born July
3, 1926, in Fremont, Mo., and departed this life July 22, 2008, in
Winona, Missouri. He had attained the age of 82 years and 19 days. Rev.
Jones had resided in Mountain View, Mo., for the past six years and was
formerly of Fremont, Mo. He was an ordained minister with the Church of
God of Prophecy and started his ministry in 1955, and was a pastor for
35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War
II. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, deer and rabbit hunting
and running his foxhound. On Oct. 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to
Rebba Geraldine Yardley in Pocahontas, Ark. Survivors include his wife,
Geraldine Jones of Mountain View; one son, Billy Jones and his wife,
Shirley of Springfield; two daughters, Judy James and her husband,
Travis of St. Charles and Jerry Cooper of Mountain View; two brothers,
Rev. Calvin Jones of Fremont and Lloyd Jones of Gilbertsville, Ky.; two
sisters, Lois Flint and Reva Burke both of Van Buren; seven
grandchildren, Stephen, Kimberly, Melissa, Dawn, Rick, Carlena and
Wendy; 14 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who
mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Ray
C. and John D. Jones; eight brothers, Clyde, Vernon, Delmar, Dillard,
John, Richard, Everett and Melbern Jones; and one sister, Melba Payne.
Funeral services were Friday, July 25, in the funeral home chapel with
Rev. Garry Reagan and Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial was in Green
Mountain-Evaline Cemetery in Fremont, Mo. In lieu of flowers, please
make memorial donations for the family to the McSpadden Funeral Home of
Van Buren. |
